Cartwheels is a personal project for the gallery show “Spin Cycle” by Kiat Kiat Projects in September 2018.

Being a stocky, overweight child growing up, I have always been uncomfortable with my body. My semi-sister, almost ten years old and with a thick body like the one I had her age, holds hers with pride and confidence.

With my point-and-shoot film camera, we explored the different establishments within the city, our neighborhood, and even our own home. I shared my insecurities with my body and she showed me what it’s capable of doing. Eventually I relearned how to cartwheel myself.
