Synopsis: In the sweltering heat of Metro Manila, a 13-year-old gravedigger's daughter plagued by asthma cannot breathe. When her magical best friend who glimmers endlessly begins to dissolve and a pink creature blossoms out of her older sister’s body, she plans their escape to the sea where they can finally achieve their liberating exhale.

Summer 2005: When a ten-year-old Filipino girl is forced to join her estranged Overseas Filipino Worker father in the United States due to political insurgence back home, she tries to contact her best friend in the Philippines by landline, but instead, summons a pink extraterrestrial alien that won't leave her alone.
